Mr Deinhammer, what is it like to work in the Tax Service Line?

It is very varied and exciting. My main tasks include the preparation of tax returns, advising and assisting our clients and, of course, cross-team cooperation in the preparation of annual financial statements. I support international companies operating in Austria in tax law matters and also in the creation of subsidiaries.

How long have you been with Mazars?

Two years. Before that I worked in our family business. During the interview I had with our partner, Günther Mayrleitner, I learned more about Mazars and the area of work. A big plus point, which is very important to me, is the informal way of working, which I also see here in the cooperation with international colleagues. If you need support from the other locations, you get it quickly. You don't find hierarchies at Mazars - not even internationally.

What is exciting about a career in tax?

The advantage is definitely that you get to know many different industries and interesting people. You get a lot of insights into markets and companies. The opportunity to work in different industries and business sectors is a special attraction and you never stop learning. It was only after my studies that I discovered this area of tax in practice for myself. It is hard to believe how diverse and extensive the field of taxation is.

How do you keep an overview in such a large field of knowledge as tax and tax law?

Deadlines for appeals and submissions play a very important role for us. As an assistant or manager, you have to be committed and personally ensure that you obtain all the necessary information and documents on time. Good, proactive planning is essential in our profession. It is particularly important to always keep an overview, because that makes it easier to pass on the most important facts to the clients. But we don't just focus on facts and figures - we look after our clients' interests. That's how we work at Mazars, and I really appreciate that. A future colleague should therefore have the ability to work in a team as well as solution-oriented thinking and working. Friendliness never does any harm either (smiles).
