Age 30, Manager in the Service Line Tax
Verena's hobby is sport.
Ms. Ziegler, what are your main tasks as a tax manager?
I lead our four-person tax team, which looks after our customers with a high level of commitment. I find that very motivating. We prepare tax returns for our clients, including many SMEs as well as international corporations. We deal with tax issues - international and national matters - and we have daily contact with the other Mazars locations. Our greatest challenge is time. We have a lot of deadlines to meet - often several in parallel. I also do audit work, albeit to a lesser extent.
Is it common at Mazars to work in different service lines?
If you like that and enjoy variety, the combination is possible. With us everyone gets the chance to think outside the box and work for different customers and on different projects. When I started at Mazars, my job was advertised as a combined position. I took over the team responsibility already before my tax consultant exam. Günther Mayrleitner, our partner, trusted me and suggested this position for me.
What was your first impression of Mazars as an employer back then?
When I first heard about Mazars, I didn't even know the firm. At that time I was in working towards the tax adviser exam and I had to prepare for national as well as international law. This made Mazars interesting for me as a potential employer. The interviews took place in a very pleasant atmosphere. I made the final decision based on gut feeling.
In retrospect, what were the best moments of your career at Mazars?
I especially like to remember the time during my tax consultant examination. Mazars accompanied and supported me during this intensive time - for example with a special holiday. It worked very well, managing both areas together.
