Social insurance & cross-border telework
In addition to the existing bilateral agreements that Austria has already concluded with Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, a multilateral framework agreement is now also available.
The multilateral framework agreement makes it possible to remain in the social security system of the employer state (for a longer period of time): self-employed persons can now perform less than 50% (general rule: less than 25%) of their work from their state of residence (home office) if both states concerned have signed the framework agreement and a corresponding application is submitted. The application can be submitted for a maximum period of three years and then extended if necessary.
